about

I was watching TV, just surfing around one afternoon, just after Katrina hit NOLA and saw this Oprah show where they went down there and it was mind blowing. They talked out bodies floating in the standing water, people writing their social security numbers on their arms so they could be identified when they were found - they talked bout the people staying in the domed stadium and gangs and rapes going on in there... Not that I would presume to have any idea what that had to be like for those folks but I had been going through a really fucked up portion of my life that particular year and I just kind of fell into writing this song which I recorded with Thee Dirty South - Marc Chechik plays some gorgous piano on it.
